Catholic Family Services' Gift of Hope Concert highlighted the work of the grief and adoption programs and raised funds to keep services free or at low cost.
The concert was held for the first time at the relatively new O'Gorman High School Performing Arts Center.
Mark Conzemius and Dan Goeller, the creative team behind the Christmas at the Cathedral concerts, teamed up to produce the shows.
The production included original music from Goeller, a 40 member orchestra, the O'Gorman High School Concert Choir and KSOO Radio's Chad McKenzie narrating Oscar Wilde's fairy tale "The Selfish Giant."
Proceeds from the event benefit the Gift of Hope Endowment of Catholic Family Services.
The endowment helps CFS and its ministries related to loss, grief, abuse and other challenges faced in the daily lives of people in eastern South Dakota.
Dave Fleck, former CFS board member, was honored with the 2012 Gift of Hope Award winner.
Fleck was board chair in 2006-2007 and energized the leadership at CFS board during his tenure.
