Bishop Donald E. DeGrood
Bishop Donald E. DeGrood was ordained the ninth Bishop of Sioux Falls in 2020. Raised on a Minnesota farm and formed by a love for Christ and his church, he brings decades of pastoral leadership and a deep commitment to spiritual renewal across our diocese.

Building Missionary Disciples
Born from a vision Bishop DeGrood received in prayer, our diocesan mission is clear: to build a culture of Lifelong Catholic Missionary Discipleship Through God’s Love. That mission, guided by the diocesan Office of Discipleship and Evangelization, is coming alive in our pastorates, parishes and ministries. It is being Set Ablaze by the fire of the Holy Spirit.
