Macy Hajek
Lumen Christi Missionary
My story
Being raised in a Catholic family, this set a foundation of the Catholic faith and love of Christ. I attended youth conferences where I had many awesome encounters with Jesus and individuals who devoted their lives to Him. However, it wasn’t until my life was tested that I started to develop a truly personal relationship with Christ. When I was a junior in high school, I lost my best friend in a car accident. The grief that followed left me searching, and Christ revealed Himself to me as I slowly opened up to Him. The more I learned about the person of Jesus through prayer and Scripture, the hurt in my heart began to lighten to see the beauty of life. This relationship with Christ is something I continue to deepen and strengthen. The hope that comes with following Christ is an invitation I share with all I encounter!
Where I Serve?
I will be serving as a Lumen Christi missionary for the Diocese of Sioux Falls primarily in the Dell Rapids and Sioux Falls area. Lumen Christi is a brand new initiative of the Discipleship and Evangelization office. I will be working in the St. Mary’s Catholic school during the week and doing outreach in the parishes of Dell Rapids, Huntimer, and Garretson. Our mission in serving will be done this year through mentorship, Bible Studies, event nights, and an overall dedication to the spiritual needs of the Diocese of Sioux Falls. It has been so welcoming to join the community and I am so excited to continue to grow in my relationship with Christ through those I encounter.
