St. George- Hartford
This week, Team 2 was in Hartford at St. George Parish, part of the Our Lady of Victory Pastorate. It was such a great time for our first week out in the diocese! The parish community was very welcoming, and we got to meet a lot of families within that community who opened up their homes to us. It was a beautiful place to see God’s hand at work.
We started the evening program on June 1. We taught them how to play a game called Phantom Winker, prayed with a meditation from St. Theresa of Calcutta, and led them through a Lectio Divina on the Road to Ammaus. The Holy Spirit was really present in these middle school and high school students. They were able to see some of the gifts of the Holy Spirit working in their lives as well. Also, we showed them how to think about how God is working in different parts of their day. We also roasted s’mores indoors for our last night with them! With the day program, we played lots of fun games and the students loved the stories we had to tell from the Bible demonstrating the Holy Spirit working. They also were able to attend Mass every day before going home and learn more about how to respect Jesus while being in Mass. It was great for all of us to get to interact with the younger and older students within the parish.
We are so blessed to have such great people to support us while we teach the youth of their parish about our Lord and Savior and his gift to us in the Holy Spirit. The students and adults at St. George were so generous, helpful, and committed to making sure that people know what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Team 2 is ready to pull out of the station and head forth on our journey and see what God has in store for each of us. All aboard the “two-two” train!
