Team 3 – St. Peter & St. Joseph – Jefferson & Elk Point
This week Team 3 traveled to St. Joseph in Elk Point, St. Peter in Jefferson, and St. Teresa of Calcutta in Dakota Dunes in the Holy Angels Pastorate. It was such a gift to be welcomed by wonderful host families and parishioners who served us so well throughout the week! It was fun getting to know them and each of the students throughout the week. We enjoyed every second!
Our morning program was so full of energy! We had a lot of fun playing games, dancing, doing skits, and sharing Christ’s joy with one another. Some of the students even taught our team a dance they know. Each day, I was able to interact with young people who deeply love the Lord. I was moved by their attentiveness, curiosity, and desire to share about how the Holy Spirit has worked in their own lives. It was a fun challenge to keep students engaged and participating during class time. We wrapped up our week with a water fight, and the students had a blast!
We had a wonderful group of middle school and high school students in our evening program as well! We played games, talked about the Holy Spirit and his gifts, participated in small groups, and spent time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. While we missed one night due to inclement weather, we managed to fill every second of our time together, and the students made the most of it! They were very eager to share about their faith. Additionally, we had adoration, and nearly all of the students went to confession. Many even stayed after adoration had ended to get through the confession line. It was a beautiful grace to see so many of them run to the arms of the Father to receive his mercy! Nicole and I were also able to spend some time in relational ministry with the girls during the afternoon. We walked to Olie’s, where we had delicious ice cream and shared meaningful conversations with them. It was a great way to start the summer!
