Week 2 – St. Rose of Lima – Garretson

This week Team 2 was at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Garretson, part of the Holy Cross Pastorate. A big thank you to the parishioners of St. Rose of Lima and the helpers we had throughout the week for hosting us and the youth from Risen Savior in Brandon as well in this fun-filled week of learning, community and of course fun! Garretson was such a beautiful place to be for our second week of parish visits. The team took a few adventures outside in our free time to explore.

We started out strong with our evening program on June 8 with around 20 teens ranging from 7th to 12th graders. We spoke a lot about prayer, how to bring the Holy Spirit into it, and they loved getting to do Lectio Divina and some imaginative prayer. It was also great seeing so many students go to confession this week. Also, who knew that card games would get so competitive between the missionaries and the students? With a smaller group of students, it was great to just be with each of them and get them to open up on a deeper level in most cases.

The youth we encountered in the day program were very hungry for knowledge and games of Goose-Goose-Duck. They loved learning about how the Holy Spirit gives them gifts and that he wants what’s best for them. The students also got the opportunity to attend a potluck on Wednesday and bring their families. It was great to meet more of the families of the students we were spending the week with!

A big thanks again to all the people this week from St. Rose of Lima and Risen Savior who made it possible for Lumen Christi to be here. Also, please pray for some of the students and their families who we encountered that aren’t Catholic but are very curious to know more about what it means to be a Catholic and a child of God. We can’t wait to travel to our next adventure—our first D-Camp of the summer. God bless you all and praise God for all that he is and does!

How can we help you?
