Coming off our first D-Camp and confirmation retreat in Sioux Falls, we traveled to Geddes where our program served the towns of Geddes, Platte and Lake Andes. All the parishes belong to the Holy Apostles Pastorate. The members of the three parishes we served were so happy to have us and very willing to help us during the week with anything we needed. Geddes and the surrounding communities are definitely small town strong and the faith present in the adults and youth is also quite strong!
At the height of the day program, we had about 25 students who were really excited that Lumen Christi was back in Geddes. They were able to learn a lot about the Holy Spirit and what he can do in their lives. We were unable to have a water fight due to the weather, but Father Tom Clement made an appearance after Mass on Friday for our root beer float party. We also got to talk about the Sacred Heart a little bit on Friday due to the solemnity falling on that day.
With our evening program, there were a fairly consistent seven students who showed up. It was honestly such a blessing to be able to pour into this smaller group of students. They really were able to be open with us by the end of the week, especially about their experiences in adoration and just throughout the week in their daily spiritual life.
We also were able to have a fire at the town park in Geddes and go on a hike with most of them on Friday at Pease Creek, which was a very fun challenge. It was so great to get to be in these communities and teach all these amazing students about the Holy Spirit and prayer. A big thank you to everyone who was able to attend and who volunteered this week and God bless you!
