Week 5 – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Dante, Marty, Wagner

This past week, we were in Dante at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary serving the communities of Dante, Marty and Wagner. Even though we had a short week in Dante, it was a fun-filled and powerful week in these students’ lives. We also encountered a very supportive community that valued educating their youth even before Lumen Christi and Totus Tuus. There’s also such a rich history in the towns we were serving that we got to witness!

The evening program began June 29 with about 16 students. It was great to meet quite a few of them that were starting little fires in their hearts for Christ, but also great to meet some that maybe weren’t. It was also great to be able to provide answers to some of their deeper questions. We got to talk a lot about the importance of the sacrifice of the Mass and having a prayer life.
This was the largest day program we’ve had so far on our travels, maxing out at around 40 students. They were really eager for songs and learning about how to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. We were also praying a spiritual bouquet for Father Jim Friedrich as it was his 36th anniversary of his ordination the Sunday after we arrived.

It was also the first time we got to break out the shaving cream for our last day! The media coordinator was the lucky soul to receive the shaving cream before the water fight. Father Jim also joined in the water fight, which the kids absolutely loved!

Thank you to everyone who made our time in Dante memorable and who welcomed us with open arms. God bless you all and pray for harmony in our country and beyond as well as our military as we honor our nation this time of year!
