This week, Team 3 traveled to St. Mary of Mercy Parish in Alexandria, which is part of the St. Mary Magdalene Pastorate. St. Mary is my home parish, so it was a great gift to be in my hometown! We had students from Alexandria, Salem and Emery at the program. Our week was filled with many laughs, games, beautiful conversations, prayer and delicious food!
During the morning program, we had about 30 students each day from kindergarten through sixth grade. The kids had a ton of energy and had a lot of fun at recess and games, and they really enjoyed the game Pullup. I had so many fun moments getting to chat and pray with kids and answer their awesome questions. I was so impressed by how curious they were. This week, we got to eat lunch with the kids every day, which we really enjoyed. We wrapped up the week with a water balloon fight and ice cream bars!
Our night program consisted of about 15 students, and we had so much fun getting to hang out with them. On Wednesday, we had a potluck followed by adoration and confession. It was really beautiful for me to have adoration in my home parish and also to lead so many of my cousins and friends throughout the week. They really enjoyed playing mafia, and we got many games in over the course of the week. For relational ministry, we got coffee with some of the teens at Good News Coffee Co. on Tuesday afternoon.
It was an awesome week with great students, and it was such a blessing to witness their love for Christ!
